After finishing the trip to the Matsushima Retro Museum, we spent some time walking toward Fukuurabashi Bridge to see if we could walk on it. When we arrived at the fishing facility, we realized that the bridge was closed and the sun had set, so we changed our plan to walk back to one of the train stations.
At 16:31, we began our walk back to JR Tohoku Main Line Matsushima Station. Google Maps estimated we needed 18 minutes to walk back, which meant we had a high chance of not catching the 16:47 train. We started walking and increased our speed. It was like a memory flashback showing the scenes we had seen hours before.
Closer to the end, I thought we were going to miss the train. We still had 5 minutes with 5 minutes of walking distance remaining. I started to plan Plan B: if we missed it, we would need to wait 22 minutes for the next train. Suddenly, we saw a train run through—I thought it was our train, but it was actually on the Senseki Tohoku Line. We started to run—or fast walk—to try to catch the train. I took several photos during the last sprint to the train station.
We did catch the train, arriving more than 2 minutes before it departed, but the memory is filled with running, worry, and shaking.
